The books who say that also say stone the neighbour in case his God is different. Religions has no place in today's society and human beings are perfectly capable of love and morals without it. Also, GOD would show the way if he existed. Belief in religion/God stops science/innovation as you keep saying everything interesting that happens is done by God and make no effort to understand it. Also, it's easier to not feel guilty and not have a conscience when you are religious as you can always say ask for forgiveness from the imaginary entity and blame it as well in some cases.
